Guernsey’s Martel Maides Auctions is holding a Fine Art, Antiques and Jewellery Auction, which will include ‘the Roger Perrot collection,’ starting on Wednesday 16 October.
A prominent figure in Guernsey politics, the late Roger Perrot served as a two-term States member and was a senior partner at Mourant Ozannes. He was instrumental in Guernsey’s move to full independence from Westminster.
Viewings of the Roger Perrot collection will be taking place in the former HMV premises in the Market Buildings from Friday 11 October – Saturday 12 October between 10am – 4pm, and again on Monday 14 October – Tuesday 15 October between 10am – 4pm.
Martel Maides Auctions Director James Bridges said: “It is a privilege to have been given the instruction to sell Roger Perrot’s collection, particularly as he was a long-standing client of the firm, buying regularly at Fine Art sales. Showcasing this wonderful collection in the market location is a fantastic opportunity – the Market Buildings themselves are a great piece of Guernsey’s history.”
A private viewing of the collection is also being held on Monday 14 October from 5pm – 7pm for members of the Old Elizabethan Association (OEA). This special event is being sponsored by Savills Estate Agents, the OEA, and Mourant.
The public can attend the three-day auction at the Cornet Street Auction Rooms from 10am on Wednesday 16 October until Friday 18 October. They will start daily at 10am. The auction will have broad appeal to everyone given the variety of items on offer – including an original blue Guernsey post box.
The remainder of the Fine Art Auction can be viewed at the Cornet Street Auction Rooms on Friday 11 October between 8.30am – 5pm, Saturday 12 October between 10.00am – 4pm, Monday 14 October between 08.30am – 7pm, and Tuesday 15 October 08.30am – 5pm.
