Registration has opened for this year’s Skipton Swimarathon, as community groups, schools, friends and families dive into action in support of this year’s beneficiary, Grow.
Time slots are now available for teams to book so they can take the plunge at Beau Sejour between 5th – 9th October, for what promises to be an entertaining event that accommodates everyone of all abilities.
Money raised from this year’s event will contribute towards fitting out the training café at Grow’s Coutanchez site, which is currently undergoing a £3 million redevelopment.
John Stuart, who has taken over the helm of the Skipton Swimarathon committee this year, said: “The whole community of Guernsey can all come together for an hour of fun and exercise and to support a fantastic community project in the redevelopment of Grow, a superb charity and a fabulous and ambitious project that the whole Island can be justifiably proud of when it is completed”.
Teams of up to eight are invited to book their lanes (one-hour sessions) on the website. Lanes can get booked up very quickly, so it is advisable to reserve your lane quickly. Fancy dress and fun attire is encouraged; the aim is for swimmers to enjoy themselves whilst raising funds.
The Skipton Swimarathon is jointly organised by the Lions and Round Table, and has been a staple in the Guernsey calendar since its inception in 1977.
