In the wake of Jersey-based airline, Blue Islands, suspending operations, Loganair steps in to support the island connectivity
Loganair have announced that they will be stepping in to ensure continuity of vital air connectivity for the island community, including the essential medical route to Southampton.
Loganair will commence operations to and from Jersey on Sunday 16th November and this will lead to establishing a new permanent operating base on the island.
To support customers affected by Blue Islands, special ‘rescue fares’ will be available on a number of routes. Full details and booking information can be found here.
The special rescue fares are now available to purchase on the following routes:
- Jersey ↔ Guernsey
- Jersey ↔ Exeter
- Jersey ↔ Bristol
- Jersey ↔ Southampton
- Guersney ↔ Southampton
Fares will start from £80 one way, including a 21kg total luggage allowance (15kg hold baggage and 6kg cabin baggage).
Luke Farajallah, Chief Executive Officer of Loganair, said: “This is another sad day for regional aviation, coming so soon after the news about Eastern Airways. For almost two decades, the Blue Islands brand has played a vital role in the UK’s regional aviation market, serving Channel Island communities year-round with essential air connectivity.
“We understand how important dependable air links are, both for island residents and visitors, and we have a 63-year heritage of serving the regions of the UK. In response to the news, we acted immediately to introduce flights to and from Jersey along with special fares available to ensure that affected passengers can continue to travel with minimal disruption, and to provide reassurance at what we know is an unsettling time. This will then lead to establishing a new permanent operating base in Jersey.”
Jesey Ports said: “We thank Loganair for their swift response and commitment to supporting Jersey’s connectivity at this critical moment. We look forward to collaborating with them in the weeks and months ahead as we build a strong and sustainable partnership for the island.”

Blue Islands, the Jersey-based airline, suspended operations on 14th November 2025 with immediate effect and said it was “considering its options.”
All Blue Islands flights were cancelled. Passengers expecting to fly should not go to the airport unless they have made alternative travel arrangements with another airline.
For those with Blue Islands reservations:
- For bookings made directly with Blue Islands, please contact your bank or provider of the payment card used to make the booking;
- For bookings made through our codeshare partner Aurigny but travelling on a Blue Islands flight, please contact Aurigny directly – some flights may still be operating;

“After 26 years of serving the Channel Islands, we deeply regret that Blue Islands has this evening suspended its operations,” said a spokesperson.
“After very constructive dialogue with Government of Jersey in recent months, including what we understood to have been ongoing assessments of the future options, we were informed this afternoon that they are unable to provide further support. This has meant that we now need to suspend flying immediately whilst we consider the options available and how we can help our customers, staff and stakeholders.”

Jersey’s Minister for Treasury & Resources, Deputy Elaine Millar said: “I am saddened by the announcement that Blue Islands has suspended operations, and my immediate thoughts are with the people whose jobs have been affected and the passengers whose travel will be disrupted. For those employees based in Jersey, Government support is ready and available.
“Air connectivity is vital for our Island, and the contingency plans that have been prepared will mean that connections are swiftly reinstated, with priority given to those routes most essential to the provision of medical services. Ports of Jersey are providing advice to people who have been affected by the flight cancellations.
“Anyone who was due to travel with Blue Islands should not go to the airport and should instead rebook with an alternative airline. They can get more information and support at Jersey Airport [click here]. All medical transfer passengers will be supported separately through the Department of Health.
“While Ports of Jersey address the short-term challenges, Government is working with an alternative airline to ensure that Jersey has reliable and sustainable air links for the long term.”
Guernsey’s Chamber of Commerce said that the situation highlights the urgent need for stronger policy coordination between the islands’ governments to build and sustain the vital transport connections the Channel Islands and our wider region depend on.
A spokesperson from Ports of Jersey commented: “Blue Islands has been a valued operator at Jersey Airport for many years, and we recognise that this news will come as a disappointment to its passengers, employees, and the wider island community.
“We are in contact with the Government of Jersey and other stakeholders to help ensure that accurate information and support are available for those affected.”
Guernsey Ports managing director, Ross Coppolo said: “Our priority now is passengers who are affected over the coming days. Guernsey Ports has worked with Aurigny this evening to enable an interim schedule, which will involve some extensions to Guernsey Airport’s normal operating hours. We hope this will minimise, as best we can, any disruption to Blue Islands passengers who are most immediately impacted.”
