Locally based global businesses are beginning to see the benefits of the collaboration between HSBC’s Commercial Banking business and HSBC Innovation Banking.

HSBC Innovation Banking, which launched last year, is the Bank’s global specialised proposition for businesses in cutting-edge sectors, across tech and life sciences, and for venture capital and private equity investors. It supports founders from early-stage growth through to late-stage public and private corporates, including investors, by providing access to tailored financial services from core banking, treasury, foreign exchange, and bespoke debt and credit facilities tailored to high growth companies or investment funds.

Jen Whelan, Director of Strategic Fund Solutions at HSBC Innovation Banking UK, was in Jersey recently to meet with clients to discuss how the Bank could deliver greater joined-up services and digital connectivity to support the growth plans of locally based businesses with global offerings, as well as offshore lending for fund managers.

Through its Commercial Banking division in the Channel Islands, HSBC already draws on the expertise of HSBC Innovation Banking UK to support high-growth businesses and Aline Ayotte, Head of Commercial Banking in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man, believes it is a collaboration that unlocks value and offers significant further potential.

Commenting after Jen’s visit, Aline said: “We are excited about the opportunity of working more closely with our colleagues in HSBC Innovation Banking to help support their locally based clients.

“Our market leading Commercial Banking digital services, such as our Virtual Accounts, API (Application Programming Interface) connectivity and Liquidity Solutions, are already adding real value to both sets of clients. Our digital capabilities and global connectivity, which spans 62 countries and territories, are unique. We’re extremely excited to support businesses with their own digital journey and very proud to be playing our part in supporting growth of the digital sector across the Islands.”
