A Jersey start-up business, Pizza Box, has won a seat in the heart of the Island’s digital eco-system.

The competition, sponsored by NatWest, saw entrepreneurs competing for a desk space in the Digital Jersey Hub, along with a year’s membership to the industry organisation, and access to NatWest financial advisors.

The competition has helped enable past winners to grow and build their businesses and one former winner, Snap Design & Digital, now employs 12 people in the Island in their own dedicated offices.

James Pizza BoxPizza Box is Jersey’s only ‘make and bake’ your own Pizza Kit delivery company, aimed at preventing cold, soggy pizza deliveries because you cook it fresh in your own home.

James A Matthewson, Co-founder & Director, Pizza Box Limited said: “We are delighted to have been chosen winner of the NatWest Desk Competition & Digital Jersey Membership.  This will be an immeasurable aide to our business growth plans for 2022 at Pizza Box.  We can't wait to get started at Digital Jersey and couldn’t be more grateful to DJ and to NatWest for their support.”

Pizza Box will benefit from the office space and will be able to participate in networking and mentoring opportunities organised by Digital Jersey. The Digital Jersey Hub provides dedicated desk spaces, as well as hot desking, meeting rooms, break-out spaces, and a refreshment area.

Richard Bolingbroke, MD of International Retail and Commercial Banking of NatWest, Jersey commented: “I am really delighted to see another innovative start-up being given the support it needs in Jersey. We have been sponsoring this competition from the start because we believe as a business that it is vital to champion potential, and encouraging entrepreneurship is something that helps both individuals and communities to thrive. I’d like to wish Pizza Box a really successful year and look forward to hearing more about its progress.”

Entrants were asked to submit a two-page business plan to demonstrate how winning would take them to the next level.

Tony Moretta, CEO of Digital Jersey added: “The digital community that Pizza Box is about to join will provide an inspiring environment in which this new business can thrive. Networking, collaborating, and mentoring are at the heart of our tech industry, and we welcome Pizza Box to Digital Jersey. I look forward to seeing them flourish – and maybe eating the odd slice of pizza too!”
