Local Jersey photographer Vince Thorne has launched this year’s photo contest ‘Child of the Year 2022’ in aid of local children’s charity, Brightly.
The contest is open to all children island-wide aged 6 months to 5 years old and aims to celebrate Jersey’s newest generation and cheer up the local community after the last two years.
Talking about why he’s chosen to hold the photo contest, Vince said: “After the stress of the last couple of years, I wanted to do something to cheer everyone up, support local families who may be struggling and also support a fantastic local children’s charity. I hope that my photo contest will encourage lots of community support and after all, seeing a child’s smile is one of life’s greatest joys!”
All entries will be photographed by Vince upstairs in the Children’s Department at the Marks & Spencer store, King Street, St Helier with photo sessions taking place from Monday 5th to Saturday 17th September, between 9.30am – 5.30pm. As places are limited, Vince recommends booking to secure a spot.
The first-place winner will receive the title of ‘Child of the Year 2022’ along with a large prize bundle including a two-hour photoshoot at Vince’s New Street studio, a 16″x12″ canvas print and £100 of M&S kids vouchers. Two runner-ups will each receive a £50 M&S kids voucher.
Wendy Nerac, Fundraising Officer from the charity Brightly said: “Brightly is absolutely delighted to be the chosen charity for this year’s Child of the Year contest. It is a fantastic opportunity for us to reach new audiences and to be able to raise awareness of our work.”
