The Isle of Man’s Government House has announced that His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor has awarded a Lieutenant Governor’s Commendation to Mrs Sheila Healey.
Sheila Healey is Secretary of the Onchan Branch of the Royal British Legion and a relief volunteer receptionist at Sight Matters.
Sheila has been actively involved with the Royal British Legion for over 20 years, supporting local veterans, and particularly Burma veterans. She works to ensure that veterans are not isolated by providing practical support such as making meals, taking veterans to appointments and events, and organising social activities.
Sheila’s bond with the Royal British Legion includes year-round support for the annual poppy appeal and includes promoting the appeal during the TT and MGP periods. She is a central figure in helping school children to understand what veterans have done for our community by working closely with primary schools and arranging for veterans to visit local schools to share their wartime experiences.
His Excellency will present the award to Mrs Healey in the New Year.
