Les Bourgs Hospice calls for sustainable future funding as demand and costs continue to rise

Les Bourgs Hospice has officially signed the lease to take over a retail unit at Oatlands Village.

The new shop – focused on children’s clothes, toys and gifts – will join the Oatlands Village community and strengthen the Hospice’s presence in the north of
the island. While the news of the planned shop has previously been shared, the signing of the lease marks a significant milestone and means preparations can now move ahead at full speed.

The new partnership has been made possible by Development and Planning Authority President Deputy Neil Inder’s support for allowing a charity shop at
Oatlands.

Money raised through the shop will help secure the financial future of Les Bourgs Hospice, which costs £2.8 million a year to run and receives no Government funding.

Rob Jones (pictured), CEO of Les Bourgs Hospice, said the project is about far more than revenue. “Opening at Oatlands is not just about raising funds – it’s about building
community. We want to give people in the north of the island the chance to visit a Hospice charity shop on their doorstep, offering affordable children’s clothes and toys at a time when many families are feeling the pressure of rising living costs.”
