As National Trustees Week (3rd to 7th November 2025) celebrates the people who guide charities across the Channel Islands and further afield, Les Bourgs Hospice is paying tribute to Anthony Creasey, who has retired from the Board after almost 30 years of service.
Anthony (pictured) first joined the Hospice Board in 1996, at a time when Les Bourgs was still a small five-bedded facility. Over the decades, he played a pivotal role in its development — including the Hospice’s major rebuild and reopening in 2011, which transformed the island’s palliative care provision.
Reflecting on his time as a trustee, Anthony said: “It’s been an incredible privilege to be part of Les Bourgs. The Hospice has become such an important part of the Guernsey community — and it’s a surprisingly happy place to be. I’m proud to have played a small part in its story.”
He also recognised the challenges that lie ahead for the charity, which remains entirely reliant on donations.
“We’ve managed for 35 years without States funding, thanks to the amazing generosity of islanders. But with rising costs and growing needs, we’ll need to explore how to secure the future without losing the community spirit that defines us.”
Les Bourgs Hospice Chief Executive Rob Jones paid tribute to Anthony’s long service: “Anthony’s commitment, insight and calm leadership have guided the Hospice through key moments in its history. On behalf of everyone at Les Bourgs, we thank him for his decades of dedication and wish him a happy and well-earned retirement from the Board.”
