Les Amis makes the shortlist for Leaders in Wellbeing
Share on LinkedInTwitterFacebookEmail

Les Amis has been shortlisted for two ‘Leaders in Wellbeing’ awards following precautions it took during the Covid-19 lockdown to protect its staff members and residents.

The islands largest charitable organisation will be in the running to win this year’s ‘Mental Health’ and ‘Breaking the Stigma’ awards. Prior to lockdown taking effect, Les Amis put measures in place to support its service users and staff, prioritising their safety and mental wellbeing. They conducted daily health checks and employed a mental health practitioner to monitor stress levels and anxiety.

Les Amis has worked tirelessly to promote equal opportunities for those with learning disabilities, allowing them to live out their best lives through rewarding employment, developing close ties with community organisations and raising awareness of what it means to have a disability. The ‘Breaking the Stigma’ award will look to honour the organisation who has best created an open environment in which employees can raise and discuss personal issues such as mental health.

Shaun Findlay, Managing Director of Les Amis, said: “To be shortlisted in these Awards is a credit to our incredibly hard-working team, who successfully ensured that both staff and our residents were safeguarded during the pandemic. Despite the enormous challenges we faced, we did not have a single case of Covid-19 at Les Amis. We recognise that this period may have a longer term impact on people’s mental wellbeing and we are continually exploring ways in which we can best support our staff and those who use our services at this difficult time”.

Founder of Leaders in WellBeing, and Director of WellBeing World and WellBeing At Work, Beverley Le Cuirot commented: “We are encouraged to see how governments and leading employers put wellbeing front and centre of their strategic initiatives, to ensure their teams are resilient, clear headed, and confident in resolving issues, and that above all, they remain calm in the face of ongoing challenges. These Awards celebrate businesses that are led from the front by compassionate leaders, actively listening to their employees and customers, to ensure people feel safe, seen, heard, and valued”.

Supporters of the charity should head to the Les Amis website to make on-line donations or to sign up for news and regular updates.
