Les Amis launches volunteering hub to support fundraising

Islanders are being invited to join a new volunteering hub to help Les Amis with its fundraising activities.

The charity, which supports adults with learning disabilities, is facing higher cost of living and operational costs and must increase its fundraising activities to ensure its services continue to meet the daily needs of its residents and service users.

Les Amis is developing a volunteer hub to bolster its fundraising campaigns and to provide more cover for events and other initiatives throughout the year. These are likely to include volunteering opportunities such as selling raffle tickets, assisting with setting up and running stalls to raise awareness or helping at community events that Les Amis is involved with, such as the Island Walk and the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon. It’s hoped that this will also deepen the links the charity has within the community.

Shaun Findlay, Managing Director of Les Amis, said: “Our fundraising team is already doing a fantastic job at increasing awareness about the work we do and leading our fundraising efforts, but we need support from a silent army of volunteers to make sure we can keep putting the message out there about the vital work that Les Amis does.

“High living costs mean that people have less disposable income for charitable giving, but we’ve seen the demand for our services  grow. So, we need people to help raise our profile and the visibility of those with learning disabilities within our community. We support some of the most vulnerable people in our society by improving their quality of life and their dignity at the end of their lives. That’s why we’re welcoming Islanders who would like to volunteer their time to help.”
