Law At Work (LAW) have introduced Fire Risk Assessments (FRA) to their range of Health and Safety services, following a growing demand from Jersey and Guernsey businesses.
FRA’s will now be offered as an independent service, available to businesses pan-island who are looking to take a pro-active approach towards creating a safe working environment. The service was previously only undertaken alongside other related Health and Safety procedures.
LAW Health and Safety Business Partner, Deano Davey, said: “We take pride in the start to finish H&S services we can provide our clients, however, we also recognise that there is a place for individual procedures such as FRA’s, so we are pleased to officially put this in place.”
“Aside from the obvious reasons to undertake a FRA for your business premises, these assessments can often be important in other ways, such as acquiring insurance, so it really is a valuable service for clients pan-island.”
FRA’s are increasingly being requested by insurance companies, and while not currently required under Jersey Legislation, they are recognised as best practice and advised by H&S professionals.Undertaking a FRA and putting appropriate measures in place can, among many things, reduce the risk of a fire starting, ensure the safe evacuation of the building’s occupants, prevent excessive damage should a fire occur and reduce the time and expenses of redevelopment. As a hub for off-shore branches of large international companies, many Jersey and Guernsey firms are required to comply with the standards of their parent company, which often includes having a FRA.
The new service aims to support businesses who want to take a proactive approach in creating a safe environment and is suitable for all places of work.
