After almost two years at their temporary location Grow is preparing to return to their permanent site in the Coutanchez.
Last week marked the return of the main greenhouses at Avondale Vinery in Oatlands Lane to the landowner. These structures have formed the main sales area for Grow’s range of plants, as well the planting and propagation area where the Crew worked, learning to sow, pot on and nurture plants in preparation for sale.
James Littlewood, Director of Green Trees Ltd, the site owners met the Grow team on site for the official ‘handover’.
Karen Blanchford, Grow’s General Manager thanked James and his fellow directors for giving the charity use of the site for a peppercorn rent. Mrs Blanchford said: “Without this extremely generous gesture to give Grow a home for almost two years we could not have continued to function.
“The team quickly felt at home here in an environment very similar to our old site. Now we are all looking forward to returning to the Coutanchez during September.”
Planning permission has been granted at Avondale to create a storage and distribution centre on the site landscaping has already taken place before work begins next month by dismantling the main greenhouse.
Grow will continue to occupy the office portacabins, outdoor spaces and a greenhouse at the rear of the site from which plant sales will continue as normal. Plants, including herbaceous, perennials and a full range of vegetable starter packs are on sale from outdoor benches at the Avondale Vinery and are available 24 hours a day. A further range of plants can be purchased from a greenhouse on the site during working hours 8am – 4pm Monday to Friday.
