Jersey pupils have created two murals that will remain on display for a decade.
Year 4 and Year 6 pupils at Bel Royal School worked with artist and educator Jacqueline Rutter to create The Bel Royal Hive and Doors to Our World at Elizabeth Marina, as part of ArtHouse Jersey’s Art in the Arches project.
Sponsored by KPMG, the school’s participation included workshops and painting sessions exploring creativity, belonging and community. Pupils developed artistic, communication and teamwork skills, with their work becoming part of the open-air gallery.
Ben Honeywood, Partner at KPMG in the Crown Dependencies, who leads the initiative, said: “We are proud to support Bel Royal School’s involvement in Art in the Arches and help create meaningful opportunities for Jersey’s young people.”
The project sits alongside the firm’s support for education and youth sport, including Jersey College for Girls’ Art of Leadership programme, Grainville School, the Jersey Amateur Swimming Association and Jersey Rugby Football Club Minis and Juniors.
KPMG also contributes to careers initiatives such as the IoD Future Leaders Shadowing Scheme, which gives Year 12 students insight into local organisations and leadership roles.
Morris Mwiine, member of KPMG’s Citizenship Committee, said: “By working with schools and community organisations, we support experiences that encourage participation, build confidence and help young people develop skills for the future.”
