London Stock Exchange-listed JTC has partnered with leading blockchain business Brickblock Limited to launch a highly innovative and forward-focused platform for supporting cross-border real estate investment.
The new platform provides a cutting-edge technical solution for allowing real estate investments via smart contracts on the blockchain. This allows transactions, whether it’s investing in an asset or raising capital for a project, to be conducted faster, more efficiently and more cost-effectively, than via traditional financial institutions. Notably, investments through the platform are not restricted by long-term holds, enabling investors to trade or sell their shares at any time.
As part of the partnership, JTC will provide administration services to investment structures on the Brickblock platform, act as the legal custodian of issued shares and be responsible for clearing eligible investors. In addition, JTC will also sit on the board of selected real estate asset holding companies for Brickblock’s clients.
Brickblock, which has offices in Berlin and Gibraltar, is a technical service provider for real estate investments on the blockchain. Earlier this year, Brickblock launched the world’s first tokenised real estate fund in partnership with real estate management firm Peakside Capital.
The first real estate opportunity to be made available to investors through the new blockchain platform is Hillview Homes Limited’s Holt Hill in Birkenhead, UK.
Carlo Martinengo, Director of Corporate Services at JTC, said:
“The launch of this exciting new platform with Brickblock represents a highly innovative addition to the real estate investment landscape, and we’re looking forward to continuing to support Brickblock by providing specialist guidance and ongoing administration support. By helping to create liquidity in an otherwise very illiquid asset class, we’re playing an integral role in facilitating a new approach to real estate investment that is more cost-effective, more efficient, and more accessible than traditional models.”
Jakob Drzazga, Founder of Brickblock, commented:
“JTC’s expertise is integral for realising the potential of blockchain technology to positively impact the real estate investment process. I am certain that working together with a company of JTC’s calibre will reinforce the confidence of our clients and potential investors when it comes to Brickblock’s offering.”
