The Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has announced that Lisa Springate will be appointed as President on 28 April.
The appointment is subject to ratification by the Members at the Annual General Meeting on that date, and comes as current President Ben Shenton steps down after six years in the role.
An English barrister and Jersey advocate by background, Lisa is an established leader in Jersey who was selected following an open interview process. Her previous roles include a partner in a leading international law firm, Head of the Legal & Technical Department of Jersey Finance, Chair of the Institute of Directors (Jersey) and Chair of Visit Jersey.
Welcoming the appointment, Mr Shenton said: “I am delighted that the interviewing panel has selected Lisa to succeed me as President at this important time for the charity. Her legal training and diverse breadth of experience in her other roles will be very valuable, but most importantly, she also brings a real passion for the JSPCA.”
Commenting on her appointment, Mrs Springate said: “It’s an honour to have the opportunity to lead the Committee of the JSCPA and I am very much looking forward to working with them and the excellent team headed by the CEO, Pam Aubert, as well as all of the many appreciated volunteers, to build upon the JSPCA’s proud legacy. Our vision will focus on strengthening community engagement, driving innovative welfare initiatives, and ensuring the highest standards of care for all animals under the society’s protection.”
