After careful consideration, the Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has made the difficult decision to close their charity shop in Sion Village, St John on Saturday, 25 April 2026.
Unfortunately, due to ongoing economic pressures, increasing costs, reduced footfall and long-term roadworks in the area, the shop is no longer sustainable. A formal consultation process has taken place with the affected employees.
The shop has been an important part of the community for the last five years, providing a welcoming space, adding to the circular economy and a way for the charity to connect with the community.
Pam Aubert, CEO of the JSPCA said: “This has been a very difficult decision as the shop has been a way for our community to connect with and support the charity and importantly raise awareness for us.
“Unfortunately, given the current economic environment and reduced footfall, it is no longer sustainable to operate the shop in its current form. Future retail activity will be considered as part of a strategic review, but it is too early to say what that will look like at this stage. We would like to thank our employees, volunteers and customers for their dedication and support the past five years.”
