I’ve been in my role now for a little over a year, and the one thing that I think I have enjoyed above all else is seeing the passion and dedication shown by so many of my members.
I’m lucky in that my job gets me to go and speak to all of these people and businesses and makes me realise what we have on this island.
I have been wanting to find ways to boost the perception of industry on Jersey for some time now and through a strong collaboration between ourselves, Skills Jersey and Highlands College, we finally have a way of doing it.
Zest Festival starts this week. It’s an opportunity to showcase some of the incredible skillsets within the industry, not only for students and hospitality staff, but importantly for the public too. We have international professionals arriving on island, as well as a range of local leaders in their fields coming to pass on some knowledge and provide some great viewing at the same time. We also have 20 venues putting something special on themselves for everyone to see. The industry is going out to the island to shout about what it can do.
Zest needs everyone to make it successful. Not just through the organisers and professionals taking part, but also through the audience and participants in the venues to support the events taking place. I truly hope every event is full, and we are running a free, open door policy for them all (with the exception of the closing event)
I am proud to see what has come together for this, and how keen everyone is to enjoy the festival. It’s open at the Pomme d’Or from this Thursday, 4 April, to Saturday 6 April, with an incredible range of things to see and learn.
