Jersey Zoo has announced plans to reopen soon with new safety measures in place to protect visitors, staff and animals.
The zoo, which is one of Jersey’s biggest visitor attractions, is yet to reveal an open date. However, it has published a list of its new safety precautions, including a cap on visitor numbers, staggered entry times, and the mandatory use of face masks for employees and guests.
‘The zoo is a predominantly open-air, 32-acre site with wide pathways and large open areas and we are looking forward to being able to open our gates once again. However, before reopening we will ensure that we do everything we can to protect our staff, visitors and animals. We will closely follow the Government’s advice and implement a number of new measures so that we can provide a safe experience for everyone,’ the zoo said in a statement.
Visitor numbers will be capped at 500 per day. Admission will be allowed in half-hour time slots between 9.30am to 4pm, with up to 36 people permitted entry per slot. Visitors will only be allowed to enter the zoo during the time slot they have booked in advance. The gift shop will remain closed, though it is still operating online.
