Jersey Sport has confirmed a record year for its Performance Sport Programme, with 54 athletes, 4 coaches and 2 officials set to receive support in 2026.
The announcement follows the expansion of the programme earlier this year, when applications were opened to coaches and officials for the first time. The selected group now reflects a significant step forward in Jersey Sport’s commitment to developing not only athletes, but the wider network that underpins performance success.
A total of 11 new athletes have been selected, joining 43 returning from the 2024 and 2025 groups.
With an investment of £125,875 in 2026, Jersey Sport will have committed more than £290,000 to performance sport since the programme’s launch in December 2024.
The latest athletes to join the programme represent a wide range of sports and emerging talent: Seren Coombs (Rugby Union), Adam Dalton (Golf), Oliver Dodds (Weightlifting), Anushan Elanco (Touch Rugby), Clara Ginnis (Swimming), Hannah Sterry (Swimming), Xavier Le Monigan (Surfing), James Wiseman (Rugby), Jacob Watson (Rugby), Florence Allo (Netball) and Daniel Dubras (Athletics).
Four coaches have also been selected for support: Jake Powell (Surfing), Sasha Baker (Artistic Roller Skating), Penelope Cruttwell (Equestrian) and Elliot Powell (Football).
Alongside them, two officials will receive support through the programme: Stuart Hodgson (Cricket) and Peter Vincenti (Football). Their inclusion marks an important milestone for the programme. By investing in both coaches and officials, Jersey Sport is strengthening the full performance pathway, ensuring athletes are supported by high-quality coaching environments, while also developing officials who are essential to the delivery of fair, consistent competition and long-term sporting progress.
The programme now spans 26 sports, including 5 para sports, reflecting the breadth and inclusivity of Jersey’s performance landscape.
Performance Sport Programme lead Dom Blampied said: “We are incredibly proud to see the continued growth of the Performance Sport Programme and the impact it is having across the Island. Supporting a record number of athletes alongside coaches and officials this year is a significant milestone and a real step forward for sport in Jersey. By investing not just in athletes, but also coaches and officials, it gives all islanders in sport pursuing excellence the chance to be supported by Jersey Sport.”
