Jersey Post’s mini electric vans make-over revealed
Share on LinkedInTwitterFacebookEmail

In June, Jersey Post launched an island-wide search for artists and wordsmiths to help design and name the newest (and smallest) additions to their eco fleet.

Over 50 young artists aged 5-18 submitted some incredible bold and colourful pieces of art, with over 140 creative name suggestions sent in via social media on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, by islanders aged 16+.

The new vans are:

  • Penny Post (main picture), designed by Emily age 11, name by Nicky and Tabitha. Penny’s personality: The mother of the group – bright, cheerful and endlessly curious, Penny Post is the van who always knows the quickest way round town. With her sunny outlook and neat little wheels, she loves bringing a smile to St Helier one collection at a time.
  • Parcel Pete, designed by Kimberley age 14, name by Chase. Parcel Pete’s personality: The father – reliable, friendly and full of energy, he is the dependable one. He is always ready to roll, with a can-do attitude and a wave for everyone he passes. Pete believes no road is too small and no collection too ordinary. From busy streets to quiet corners, he takes pride in helping Jersey Post keep island life moving in a cleaner, greener way.

  • Parcel Puffin, designed by Ruby age 9, name by Rozzy. Parcel Puffin’s personality: The daughter – playful, bright and full of colour, Parcel Puffin is impossible to miss with her cheerful rainbow design. This mini van brings a burst of island colour to every collection round. She is sociable just like the puffin and likes to be the centre of attention.
  • Beanie Post, designed by Clara age 13, name by Chase. Beanie’s personality: The son – local and proud, Beanie Post wears Jersey on his wheels with a design that features a map of the island. Warm and welcoming, he’s a little reminder that every route and road he visits is part of the same close-knit community. With Jersey’s map proudly worked into his design, Beanie celebrates the island connections that Jersey Post supports every day, from town streets to the people and places that make local delivery feel personal.

Julie Thomas, Chief Operating Officer at Jersey Post said: “These mini electric vans are so cute and full of personality, you can even see a smile between their headlights. It was only right to give them fun designs and make them a little bit different to our other delivery vans.

“We wanted to get our community involved in creating the personalities of our mini vans, to celebrate the incredible creativity and imagination that we have here on the island. The standard of entries for both competitions was fantastic and it made judging the artwork and names very hard. Try spot one of these cute vans when you’re next in St Helier.”

All 50 pieces of artwork will also be showcased in a special exhibition at the Broad Street Post Office from Thursday 20th August until Tuesday 8th September, giving islanders the opportunity to see the young artists’ designs up close.
