The Jersey Opera House has appointed Laura Robertson as Interim Chair and Ry Williams as Deputy Chair of the Board of Directors, supported by non-executive director Kristina Moore.
Laura (pictured) has practiced corporate and M&A law both in the City of London and on island for over 10 years. She has also served on numerous charities and boards both locally and in London across the arts, heritage and sports sector and has a lifelong love of theatre.
The appointment of Laura comes after Cyril Whelan announced that he was to resign, having succeeded another outgoing interim chairperson in April this year.
Ry is a senior HR professional, who has strong board experience. He is a former Head of the Performing Arts Development Group (PADG), representing the local performing arts community and was Group Chair of Jersey Green Room Theatre Company (previously Jersey Green Room Club).
Deputy Kristina Moore has served in the States Assembly since 2011, holding key roles including Chief Minister and Home Affairs Minister. Before politics, she was a broadcast journalist and anchor for Channel Television, with experience in television and radio across the UK. Passionate about the arts, she studied ballet, tap, and modern dance and remains an active supporter of theatre and performance.
As the organisation moves toward reopening, the Board and Executive are committed to delivering a diverse, inclusive programme, unlocking renewed opportunities for performers and audiences alike, and working in close partnership with the Opera House’s exceptional team and dedicated Board.
