“We have our 2019 JHA Gala Dinner coming up in October this year, and have chosen the date to change it more to an end of season gala dinner rather than our previous options of a winter gala. This decision has been made as we believe that despite all the pressures and increased difficulties our industry is facing now, we still have a lot to celebrate.
That being said, we have also opted to hold our first Awards this year. This reinforces our desire to celebrate the positives we have in local hospitality. This was an easy decision for us to make, and we have chosen the categories we believe reflect some of the truly important elements of our industry.
The categories chosen are:
Career Achievement– this isn’t about longevity, but about someone’s dedication and hard work towards the industry. We want people to feel appreciated for their commitment to our trade.
Island Ambassador– this celebrates those who take every opportunity they can to promote the island. Someone who takes great pride in showcasing Jersey.
Best Newcomer– while it is great to shout about those with strongly established careers in hospitality, we also want to look at the next rising stars. People with less than 3 years full time experience within hospitality who show real passion and promise.
Green Award– for those taking extra steps to preserve the environment and in any ways they can find. This can be through a variety of schemes and initiatives, and shows someone is concerned about the islands preservation and doing their bit for the future.
These are not typical award categories in our mind, but we strongly believe that these are important areas to celebrate. These awards are about our industry, our venues and our staff.”
If you wish to put anyone forward for an award, entries must be in by next Friday. Email [email protected] for more details
