Jersey Finance announces the industry’s rising stars

Jersey Finance announced the winners of its inaugural Rising Stars 2020 Awards on Friday 13 November through a virtual awards ceremony.

Hosted by ITV journalist, Alexandra Spiceley, with opening and closing remarks from Jersey Finance’s Chief Executive, Joe Moynihan, the awards were a celebration of Jersey’s up and coming talent in the finance industry.

Showcasing the industry’s support for young professionals, the awards have proved popular amongst local finance firms, with over 150 professionals between the ages of 16 to 30 nominated and over 25,500 votes received for the shortlist from Islanders.

Those shortlisted were selected by a panel of independent judges: Kate Wright, Director at Arbre Consulting and Co-Founder of The Diversity Network; Alexia McClure, Chief Operations Officer, Jersey Business and Stuart Penn, Operations Manager, Skills Jersey.

Each category had one winner and two runners up. Winners of the awards were:

  • Accountancy sponsored by PwC:  Courtney McCann, EY
  • Banking sponsored by HSBC:  Nicolle Maltwood, Barclays
  • Compliance sponsored by Ocorian:  Jacob James, PwC
  • CSR sponsored by Highvern: Maelle Smith, EY
  • Digital sponsored by Puritas:  Guy Walton, TMF Group
  • Funds sponsored by Walkers:  Keeva Ferrow, Langham Hall
  • Human Resources sponsored by the Government of Jersey: Mia Batista, BNP Paribas
  • Investment Management sponsored by Brooks Macdonald: Aimee Barker, Rathbones
  • Law sponsored by the Jersey Law Society: Ben Channing, BCR Law
  • Marketing sponsored by Digital Jersey: Michael Day, Hawksford
  • Operations: Stephanie Toal, Accuro
  • Trust sponsored by EY: Joel Wheeler, VG

Commenting on the awards, Joe Moynihan, Chief Executive, Jersey Finance said: “Well done to all our winners and runners up of the Rising Stars Awards 2020, and to all those who were nominated. Young people have a vital part to play in Jersey’s success as an International Finance Centre. They are our next generation of leaders and have the skills and expertise to help shape our future.”
