Jersey Electricity (JE) has strengthened its leadership team with two senior appointments.
Lynne Fulton has joined as Chief Financial Officer, taking over from Finance Director Martin Magee who retires in September after 21 years with JE. Bringing 25 years’ experience to the role, much of which has been in the utilities sector, Lynne also joins JE’s Executive Leadership Team.
Lynne will be responsible for strategic finance, business planning, reporting and risk management, developing JE’s French supply relationships and ensuring compliance with international accounting standards. At the heart of her role is the responsibility for sustaining long-term value for customers and shareholders as well as planning and forecasting future financial strategies.
An Association of Chartered Certified Accountants professional, most recently Lynne was Financial Controller for United Utilities and prior to this was Group Commercial Financial Director of Ipsum Group. She also held several senior roles with Electricity North West in the UK. Her proven track record includes the efficient delivery of multi-billion capital programmes and the development of a fledgling utility from start up to maturity. Lynne was also a finalist in Nxt Gen Future CFO finalist 2022.
“I have had a solid introduction to JE and, drawing on my financial leadership and commercial experience in the UK utilities sector, I am looking forward to playing a key strategic role in helping the Group create value for customers, shareholders and the Company itself. JE is in a solid financial position with many opportunities but there are also challenges to navigate including continued volatility and upward pressure in European energy markets. JE remains committed to providing affordable, secure and sustainable electricity supplies for Jersey whilst at the same time helping the Island accelerate on a path to net zero,” said Lynne.
Adam Caerlewy-Smith joins as the Company’s new Head of Marketing and Communications with responsibility for positioning JE as a key partner in supporting and delivering a zero-carbon future, developing JE’s brands and creating impactful campaigns built around JE’s Vision.
With 20 years’ experience in marketing strategy, communications, brand and digital across several industries, Adam joins JE from fund administration company Altum where he was head of marketing. Adam, who holds a post-graduate diploma in professional marketing, previously led the marketing team at Visit Jersey where he created high profile award-winning campaigns helping to reverse a decline in visitors to the Island, before setting up his own marketing agency.
“JE has broad and ambitious marketing communications goals, built around a compelling Vision. I am looking forward to the challenge of creating and implementing campaigns to inspire our community to join us on the journey to a zero-carbon future,” said Adam.
Welcoming Lynne and Adam to the team JE CEO Chris Ambler said: “JE has a substantial agenda with huge opportunities and many projects in development, so we are thrilled that Lynne and Adam have joined at this pivotal time. Both are highly experienced leaders in their fields and bring real strength and depth to JE’s senior team.
“Ahead of Martin’s retirement, we held a robust and extensive recruitment process to find a capable successor. We are delighted that Lynne has joined us and, following a period of transition between Lynne and Martin, she is now settled into the role and is already having a positive impact on the Company. Lynne’s experience in the UK utilities market will be incredibly valuable in supporting our strategy to develop innovative, new products and services including local renewables alongside continuing to import low carbon energy from France.
“Lynne and Adam’s roles share a common theme, which is building long term value for our customers whilst at the same time supporting the delivery of a zero-carbon future for our customers and for Jersey. I wish them both the best of luck.”
