Jersey Electricity appoints new Chair-elect
Share on LinkedInTwitterFacebookEmail

The Board of Jersey Electricity has approved the appointment of Paul Savery as Chair of the board, with effect from 11 March 2027.

Mr Savery (pictured) will succeed Phil Austin MBE, who has served as Chair since 2019 and has been a member of JE’s Board for the past ten years.

A former head of the Barclays’ franchise across the Crown Dependencies, Mr Savery joined JE’s Board as a Non-Executive Director in December 2025. As part of the Board’s planned succession arrangements, he became a member of the Audit and Risk Committee and the Nominations Committee with effect from March 2026, enabling a period of transition and familiarisation ahead of assuming the role of Chair.

Phil Austin, MBE, Chair of Jersey Electricity, said: “The Board is pleased to confirm Paul’s appointment as Chair with effect from 11 March 2027. Since joining the Board, Paul has contributed positively to its work and to the Company’s governance arrangements. His appointment reflects the Board’s commitment to orderly succession planning and continuity of leadership and I wish him every success in his role as Chair.”

Paul Savery added: “I am looking forward to officially taking on the role as Chair of the Board next year. I would like to express my gratitude to Phil Austin for his commitment and service to JE, particularly in his role as Chair. His leadership has helped guide the Company through a period of significant change, while maintaining a strong focus on JE’s customers and the wider community.

“Having joined the Board in 2025, I have already seen the dedication and expertise of the people who work across the business and the vital role JE plays in supporting the Island’s homes, businesses and critical infrastructure.

“Jersey Electricity is a highly respected organisation with a proud heritage and an important role in helping Jersey achieve its long term ambitions. I look forward to working closely with my fellow Board members, the executive team and colleagues across the Company to build on JE’s strong foundations, maintain the highest standards of governance and support the delivery of a secure, sustainable and resilient energy future for the Island.”
