Some of Britain’s most outstanding leaders will be celebrated at the national final of the annual IoD Director of the Year Awards in London on 18 October, which brings together the winners of the regional awards.

Jersey directors have done particularly well in the 2019 shortlisting, with seven of the island’s leaders making the cut in their respective categories. The Jersey shortlisted directors are as follows:

  • Director of the Year – CSR: Chris van den Berg, director, PwC Channel Islands

  • Director of the Year – International: Tim Brown, CEO, Jersey Post

  • Director of the Year – Large: Andrew McLaughlin, CEO, RBS International

  • Director of the Year – Public Sector: Tony Moretta, CEO, Digital Jersey

  • Director of the Year – Start-Up: Tom Hacquoil,CEO, Pinpoint

  • Director of the Year – Third Sector: Dina Cook, COO, Wetwheels Jersey

  • Director of the Year – Young: Natalie Passmore, FD, Jersey Water

The Awards are designed to recognise and celebrate the exceptional achievements of individuals at director level within private, public and voluntary organisations across Britain. The judges – including Duncan Wardle, former VP of innovation and creativity at Disney; Kathryn Baddeley, head of CSR at Cisco UK and Ireland; and Jacqui McKinlay, chief executive of the Centre for Public Scrutiny – have had an exceedingly tough task in selecting the overall winners in 13 competitive categories.

The venue for the ceremony is The Brewery, which occupies the site of Samuel Whitbread’s historic brewhouse in the City of London. The host will be renowned newscaster Sir Trevor McDonald.

The seven Jersey directors were all shortlisted for the Awards having been winners at the Jersey Director of the Year Awards held in May this year, where Appleby were Gold Sponsor and HSBC were Silver Sponsor.

Lisa Springate, IoD Jersey Chair, says:

“We are very proud to see all seven of our winning directors making the shortlist for the national awards. It’s a tremendous accolade to get shortlisted and its testament to the fantastic leadership that thrives in Jersey. It’s particularly pertinent in times of such unprecedented political uncertainty and change that we have this inspiration and such a sign of strength from our business community. I wish them all great success at the Awards in London.”
