An estimated 11,000 passengers are expected to move through Jersey Airport this weekend as the February half term school holidays begin.
On top of that, Ports of Jersey say an additional 2,000 will travel through the St Helier harbour.
For both, tomorrow (Friday) is expected to be the busiest day.
Ahead of the seasonal spike in numbers, they’re advising passengers, especially those travelling through Jersey Airport to allow sufficient time for checking-in and going through security.
The reminder is also relevant to business passengers who may be used to arriving on pretty tight schedules, without realising the queues may be different to usual.
Passenger Services Manager for Ports of Jersey, Maria Le Tiec, said: “A large volume of flights result in a large volume of passengers, which could invariably cause queues at key points of your journey. Although we are prepared for large volumes of passengers we would urge them to ensure that they are prepared for traveling at a busy time of the year, especially those with young children.”
“Please ensure you are prepared for central security search and are aware of what you are permitted to carry in your hand luggage so that this doesn’t result in delays at the security search points. Should passengers have any specific travel needs or require special assistance please contact your airline prior to coming to Jersey Airport so appropriate arrangements can be put in place.”
