The Juggling King Rum Company, Guernsey’s first seed-to-bottle rum producer, was featured on the James Martin’s Saturday Morning cookery show on Saturday 19th December.
The ITV cooking programme kicked off its show with a prune, rum and almond tart recipe which starred the local distillery’s product. While baking the tart, host James Martin interviewed Jack Gervaise-Brazier, founder and managing director of The Juggling King Rum Company, on the company’s unique brand and its pirating history.
Jack said: “It was a pleasure speaking to James about our company’s history and to have the opportunity to explain that we’re able to grow sugarcane in Guernsey’s greenhouses. He was really interested to find out about Guernsey’s history as one of the top exporters of rum in the early 19th century. We believe that rum has a starring role in the future of the liquor industry and that it will soon overtake gin as Britain’s favourite drink.”
The Juggling King team have developed its own strain of yeast and distils the rum at its distillery on Guernsey’s Mill Street. The company places emphasis on being the only official seed-to-rum bottle distilled in the UK.
Jack continues: “Being featured on the James Martin show is a huge achievement for us given that we only launched earlier this year and we have exciting plans ahead that will allow us to grow the business exponentially next year.”
