Visitors to this year’s Barclays Jersey Boat Show will once again have a chance to watch a number of ‘live demonstrations’ as part of the Flybe ‘On Water & Active Zone’ on the Albert Pier.

It’s just one part of the three-day event takes place in and around St Helier Marina and adjacent Weighbridge Place over the bank Holiday weekend of Saturday 5 to Monday 7 May 2018.

The outdoor zone, which is one of the most popular areas, attracting large volumes of show visitors of all ages, is dedicated to all things leisure wise, both on and off the water. This will include paddle boards, kayaks, canoes and associated leisure accessories and gizmos.

Some of this year’s highlights taking place in the zone will include:

The welcome return to the Island of the world-renowned yacht, Gipsy Moth IV, in which Sir Francis Chichester sailed around the globe in 1966. The 53-foot yacht will be open to visitors throughout the weekend.

Visitors to the show will also have the chance to get out on the water with a one-hour RIB trips across the southwest coastline.

Grab a team of 4 together and take part in a paddleboard race with Absolute Adventures and Stinky Bay Brewing Company. The races will take place on Saturday afternoon between 3pm and 5pm. To register email info@absoluteadventures.je

The Duke of Normandy tug boat will be demonstrating its efficiency and capability by undertaking a series of Buoy recovery demonstrations each morning in St Helier Harbour throughout the weekend.

As part of its fund-raising efforts this year Barclays will be holding a Duck-Race every afternoon in St Helier Harbour. A limited number of ‘over-sized’ ducks will be available for the races for a donation of £5 and will race against each other in St Helier Harbour. Although participant numbers are limited anyone wishing to take part should head to the Barclays Tent each morning to register and give their donation.

For the first time at the Barclays Jersey Boat Show, Skydive Jersey will demonstrate its members’ skills with a Skydive into St Helier Harbour every afternoon.

RPM is a bike trials teamed, formed from some of the UK’s most experienced demonstration riders and will be entertaining the crowds during the weekend with some show-stopping performances.

Of its support of this year’s ‘On Water & Active Zone’, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer, Roy Kinnear said: “Our airline’s very roots can be tracked back to Jersey where we have been proudly serving islanders for over 30 years. This summer we are operating a choice of 15 routes – being close to the local communities we serve is a priority for Flybe so it’s a special pleasure to contribute towards customers’ enjoyment at this year’s Jersey Boat Show.”
