With just two weeks left of the Saffery Rotary Walk’s ‘early bird’ discounted registration rates, organisers are encouraging all interested walkers to sign up before the 31st January.
Simon Milsted, Chair of the Walk’s organising committee commented: “We’re very excited for this year’s Walk and would urge anyone planning to take part to make the most of the lower entry fees and register now. After the community missed out on the popular event last year it’s our ambition to make this our biggest Walk yet so it’s definitely not one to be missed”.
The Walk is taking place on Saturday 5th June 2021 and will see hundreds of islanders take on the 39-mile round-island route individually or as part of a relay team.
“It is always our aim to make the Walk as inclusive as possible and our relay team option helps do just that. The Walk is extremely physically demanding and, for some, walking it all would be too strenuous. The relay allows a team of up to seven walkers to choose from different sections of the course with some flatter and shorter distances which may be more accessible”, said Simon.
The early bird offers for individual walkers and relay teams are available until the end of January. Individual walkers can pay a discounted price of £20 (£25 after 31 January) and team registration is currently available for £105 (£140 after 31 January).
Lisa Vizia, director at Saffery Champness and member of the Walk’s organising committee, said: “After missing out on this wonderful community event in 2020, we would encourage as many people as possible to get involved this year and help raise valuable funds for the amazing charities the Walk supports. The early bird offers are a great opportunity for walkers to commit to the challenge while New Year motivations are high and benefit from the discounted registration fees”.
