Winners of the ICSA Jersey Awards 2019 were celebrated along with the recent academic achievements of ICSA graduates and students at the sell-out black tie ICSA Jersey Annual Dinner held at the Royal Jersey Showground on Friday, 13 September 2019.
“With nearly 400 guests, we were delighted to have such a fantastic turnout, the largest event in ICSA Jersey history, to celebrate the academic achievements of our local membersand students, whilst also applauding the success of the Awards winners,” said Robert Le Corre FCIS, ICSA Jersey Chairman. “Participation in the ICSA Jersey Awards has grown year on year, which bodes well for the profession since these are the company secretaries, administrators, and governance, risk and compliance professionals of the future.
“Good governance benefits companies, large and small, by establishing a framework of processes and attitudes that add value to the business, helps build its reputation and ensures its long-term continuity and success. The need for governance professionals who support and advise the boards of organisations in all industries and sectors continues to be as relevant as ever.”
The ICSA Jersey Awards 2019 were sponsored by Apex Group, BDO Sator Regulatory Consulting, Board Intelligence, BPP Professional Education, Computershare, Crestbridge, Estera, First Intuition, Ocorian, Simplifie and Top Personnel, all keen supporters of ICSA Jersey and its members. Mr Le Correadded: “It was due to the generous support of our sponsors that we were able to extend our event into the West Arena for the Drinks Reception this year, with locally based singer/songwriter, Moya. It was a wonderful start to a superb evening.”

The Student Excellence Award, which was based on examination performance during 2018/2019, and sponsored by BPP Professional Education, was awarded to Jacqueline Davidson of Aztec Financial Services.
Mr Le Corre, who sat on the Judging Panel along with David Rees ACIS, Chief Financial Officer of the Channel Islands Co-operative Society and Helen Hatton, MD of BDO Sator Regulatory Consulting, commented: “Once again, we were most impressed with the professionalism and technical excellence demonstrated by all of the nominated organisations, teams and individuals. They made the job of selecting the winners very difficult indeed.”
In addition to the announcement of the ICSA Jersey Awards 2019 winners, the Dinner celebrations recognised the students present who have recently completed the various stages of their ICSA qualifications. Local and international prize winners who have excelled in their ICSA examination papers over the last year were also recognised, with a presentation of a certificate by Robert Le Corre and recently appointment ICSA Chief Executive, Sara Drake.
This year, the prize winners in Jersey, each achieving the highest mark internationally in their respective papers, included: Felicity Johnson-Deeley of EFG Fund Services and Amira Fernandes of LGL Trustees, both who were presented with a certificate of recognition for their outstanding academic performance from ICSA Jersey.
Emily Collins GradICSA of Mourant Governance Services was also recognised for achieving the Ralph Bell Prize in June 2019, along with the Livery Prize which is awarded by the Worshipful Company of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (WCCSA).
The local prize winners achieving the best completion for their respective qualifications were:
- Alexander Evans of PraxisIFM for the Best Jersey Completion of the International Finance and Administration (IFA) Level 5 Diploma
- Emily Collins GradICSA of Mourant Governance Services for the Best Jersey Completion of the Chartered Secretaries Qualifying Scheme (CSQS).
- Jacqueline Davidson of Aztec Financial Services for the Best Jersey Completion of the International Finance and Administration (IFA) Level 4 Certificate and the Best Overall Jersey Completion, an achievement which also secured her the Student Excellence Award.
The graduation ceremony, with formal graduation attire, celebrated the recently qualifying Jersey-based ICSA Graduates, and new Associates of the Institute. Those present were: Florence Cox GradICSA; Anna Heppleston GradICSA; Debbie Reeve GradICSA; Chloe Smith GradICSA; Scott Strzelecki GradICSA; Emma Syvret GradICSA; Michelle Tinari-Lee ACIS; Louisa Bonney ACIS; Scott Danks ACIS; Matthew French ACIS; Sarah Earles ACIS; Robyn-Hayley Morais ACIS; Leo Da Silva ACIS; Samantha Pickett ACIS; and Sophie De Freitas FCIS.
A charity draw with prizes kindly donated by more than 20 organisations raised £2,340.00 for Causeway and the JSPCA.
Celebrations continued into the early hours with local band ‘Take This’. Reservations for tables for next year’s ICSA Jersey Annual Dinner, Awards & Graduation have already been received; the date of the event will be Friday, 25 September 2020.
