Staff at HSBC in Guernsey and Jersey were fully involved in Channel Islands Pride celebrations over the weekend, as the Bank showed its commitment to diversity and inclusion.

With HSBC House in Jersey and the St Peter Port branch in Guernsey lit up in rainbow colours and branches across the Channel Islands and Isle of Man all decorated in Pride colours for the duration of the weekend (6– 9 September), HSBC undertook a number of initiatives to acknowledge the growing importance of a diverse and inclusive workforce.

Ahead of the Pride weekend, staff in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man were all treated to specially decorated Pride cupcakes and challenged to create colourful rainbow team photos.

Then, on Saturday 7  September, the Bank hosted a marquee at Les Jardins de la Mer in Jersey as part of the ‘Pride on the Beach’ celebrations, where people were able to get their face painted, relax with refreshments, take photos of themselves in their colourful Pride outfits and pick up Pride themed t-shirts.

An all-inclusive event, Channel Islands Pride aims to promote equality for all in the Channel Islands and across the world. For the first time ever, Pride took place on the beach of St Aubin’s Bay in Jersey this year as the festivities sought to bring together and celebrate the island’s coastline, heritage and community.

Steven Beddow, Chief Risk Officer, HSBC Channel Islands and Isle of Man, said: “it was fantastic to see so many colleagues from the Bank immerse themselves in the Channel Islands Pride celebrations this year, by taking part in the parade and supporting our efforts. As an organisation we remain absolutely committed to championing the benefits of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and there’s no doubt that came through strongly this year.”
