HSBC has appointed Maria Gardner to manage the Family Office business within Global Private Banking in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man.
Based in Jersey, Maria (pictured) will play a pivotal role in supporting the diverse needs of HSBC’s Family Office clients within its Private Bank, spanning custody, discretionary and advisory services as well as specialist and tailored credit facilities.
Maria will also work closely with the Bank’s existing team based across the islands as well as the wider Global Private Banking and HSBC Group network, to drive growth in the strategically important family office sector.
With 20 years’ experience in the international financial services industry, the majority in Jersey, Maria has worked as an analyst for systematic hedge fund Altis Partners, advising a broad client base ranging from large institutions to Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) individuals. She later moved to investment consultancy Asset Risk Consultants (ARC) where she looked after UHNW families and trustees, providing a wide range of investment advice across traditional and alternative asset classes, before joining HSBC.
Maria is also Chartered through the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association (CAIA).
Kevin Herbert, Head of Private Banking in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man, said: “We are continuing to focus on enhancing our private banking client experience and grow the business in a joined-up, sustainable way. The strategic priority we are placing on developing our family office proposition both locally and globally is a reflection of that.
“I’m delighted to welcome Maria to the team to drive our family office strategy. Her experience in the international investment space and her knowledge of the ultra-high net worth market will be pivotal as we continue to evolve this segment of our proposition and further leverage the opportunities available to our private banking business.”
