HSBC CEO Takes on New York Marathon for Children in Jersey

Warwick Long, CEO of HSBC Channel Islands and Isle of Man, will be running the New York Marathon in November on behalf of the Jersey Child Care Trust, to raise vital funds for children and families across Jersey.

Warwick has been a valued supporter of JCCT for many years through his role at HSBC, supporting a number of fund-raising initiatives and helping to champion the charity within the local community.

Now, Warwick is taking on an even greater challenge, covering 26.2 miles through the streets of New York to help ensure local children can access support when they need it most.

The funds raised through Warwick’s marathon effort will help JCCT continue its work supporting children and families facing challenges such as poverty, disability and additional needs, giving children the best possible start in life and helping them thrive throughout childhood.

Fiona Vacher, CEO of Jersey Child Care Trust, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Warwick for taking on this challenge in support of JCCT. He has been a longstanding friend of the charity and it is wonderful to see him once again going the extra mile for Jersey’s children and families. Every donation will help us continue providing support, opportunities and early intervention for children who are facing significant challenges. When children receive the right support at the right time, it can make a lifelong difference and Warwick’s efforts will help ensure more children get that chance.”

This will be Warwick’s third New York Marathon and his sixth marathon overall, having previously completed the New York marathon twice previously, decades apart in 2006, 2016, along with Paris and in Italy at Lake Maggiore.

Commenting on his motivation for this latest run, Warwick said: “A marathon is as much a mental challenge as it is a physical one, but raising funds for the Jersey Child Care Trust gives this run a very special purpose. Supporting children and families in our local community matters greatly to me, and JCCT makes a real difference to people’s lives. I’m proud to support the charity and help ensure children get the opportunity to flourish.”
