The L’Eree Bay Hotel has closed for good after its owners decided refurbishment was not financially viable.
The Guernsey hotel was bought by property developers RED fund in September 2019 and was home to a public bar and Teddy’s Diner. The property closed during lockdown but its doors will remain shut after the owners and the hotel’s tenant, Quinn Hamon, agreed to end the lease early.
Andrew Haining, chairman of RED fund, said that the west coast hotel cannot reopen in its current condition.
‘As was acknowledged by Randalls, the previous owners, the L’Eree Bay Hotel’s required upgrade was not economically viable and that was the principal reason they had decided to sell it,’ he said.
‘Our subsequent inspections have identified further issues and so the site will now be locked and secured while we continue to discuss our future plans.’
Before RED fund, L’Eree Bay Hotel was owned by Randall’s and had been under the management of hotelier Mark Frost for 20 years until his retirement in 2017.
