The Committee for Employment & Social Security is looking for up to two people to join the Committee as non-voting members. Committees of the States can elect non-voting members to sit alongside the States Members. They can participate fully in the work of the Committee, but do not have a vote.
Deputy Peter Roffey, President of the Committee for Employment & Social Security, said: “We think there is much to be gained in being joined by non-voting members. They bring external perspectives and additional expertise to assist the Committee with its work.
“There are no specific qualifications for the role and we’d encourage applications from people from all walks of life. The key requirement is for them to be passionate about our mandate and have experience that adds value. This experience may have been gained through their own line of work, or through organisational links with employee groups or the third sector.
“While we would expect our non-voting members to have a particular interest in one or more areas of our mandate, we will welcome their contribution in all matters that are under discussion”.
The ESS mandate includes benefits and contributions, social housing, equality and inclusion, employment relations, health & safety and legal aid.
