Guernsey charity Grow Ltd has been recognised as the Entrepreneur for Good at the recent Veyaon Awards, an inspiring ceremony celebrating innovation and success within Guernsey’s business community.

Hosted by the Digital Greenhouse, the Veyaon Awards – named after the Guernesiais phrase meaning ‘Go for it’ aims to showcase successes and foster a culture of ambition and creativity.

The Entrepreneur for Good Award is one of nine accolades presented during the presentation evening. It aims to celebrate entrepreneurs whose business contributes to public good, including founders of organisations, with a mission to create and sustain social value, with a measurable impact for good. Judges commended Grow for its impressive contributions to society, noting the charity’s sustainable business model and consistent drive to innovate. They praised Grow’s ability to challenge itself and evolve, building on its successes year after year.

The awards ceremony took place in the David Ferguson Hall at Beau Sejour, attended by over 400 members of Guernsey’s business community. The event was a celebration of the remarkable efforts of individuals and organisations working to make a difference locally.

Representing Grow Ltd on stage to accept the award were Crew members Abi Lawlor, Alex Adamson and Jolyon Morton, accompanied by General Manager Mandy Mackelworth. The award, sponsored by Islands Insurance, was presented by their Sales Director William Woodford in recognition of the team’s dedication and achievements.

Mandy expressed her pride in the organisation and said: ‘Winning this award means so much to all of us, we are so proud of what Grow has become, but also what it can be in future for many more people. The award validates what we do and makes us realise how much we have achieved. I am especially proud of our Crew, one of whom would not have considered attending this event a year ago, let alone stepping on stage to collect the award!’.

Mandy was wearing a blouse artistically decorated by Crew member Abi Lawlor, with images to represent Grow.

The Crew members shared their excitement, describing the experience as empowering and a moment of pride in being part of something so amazing.

The Veyaon Awards are a testament to the talent and determination in Guernsey, celebrating initiatives that make a significant impact. Grow’s achievement underscores the power of innovation and dedication to social good in driving meaningful change.
