Recently the business organisations met to discuss Guernsey’s Future and to explore areas of collaboration to ensure Guernsey remains a great place to live and work.
Representatives from Guernsey International Business Association, Hospitality Association, Construction Forum, Institute of Directors, Guernsey Retail Group, Chamber of Commerce, The Confederation of Guernsey Industry and the Association of Guernsey Charities met to identify the most pressing policy areas that they believe should be a priority for the government and agree how best to work together to bring about the change that’s needed.
A joint statement from the groups said: “As leading organisations in Guernsey, we have committed to work collaboratively to drive positive change for our community. We believe that leadership by example is essential, and through strong partnerships and collective action, we can achieve our shared goals.
“Collaboration is key and by pooling our expertise and resources, we aim to create a thriving future for Guernsey.”
The group discussed policy priorities within each organisation and unanimously, the business leaders were in complete agreement that the housing crisis is a key issue impacting the broader economy, from skill shortages to overall workforce development. Addressing this challenge is paramount for sustaining Guernsey’s economic health and growth.
In the months ahead, these business organisations will distribute a shared survey to their members to identify the most pressing policy areas that they believe should be a priority for the government. This information will also serve to educate potential candidates running for the 2025 election on the critical issues affecting Guernsey’s future.
