Taxi fares in Guernsey could rise next month, the first increase in more than two years.

The Environment & Infrastructure Committee wants to put them up by 2.52% from 18 December, but is seeking islanders’ views first.

As fares go up in 20p increments, some journeys won’t be affected. Here’s how the Committee says their proposals would affect fares:

  • A 2.0 mile journey on Tariff 1 will not increase and remain at £6.60
  • A 4.5 mile journey on Tariff 1 will increase by 20p to £11.40
  • A 2.0 mile journey on Tariff 2 will increase by 20p to £9.20
  • A 4.5 mile journey on Tariff 2 will increase by 40p to £16.00

A consultation is now on and runs until 12 December.
