In recent months, the Neighbourhood Policing Team’s PC Lyndsey Bell has visited over 20 different preschool settings in Guernsey.
PC 30 Bell has been making the visits following a social media post put out asking preschools to get in touch if they would be interested.
PC Bell has been speaking to the children about the basics of road safety, what the police do and how they help, reading police related stories and allowing them the opportunity of seeing in / around Police vehicles.
The visits are incredibly positive for Guernsey Police, and the organisation has been very pleased by the excellent work of PC Bell in these early years education settings. All of the setting staff have been very welcoming, and we hope to be able to make similar visits again the future.
Samantha Martin from The Little Cottage Daycare said: “The children were very excited when they found out that a Police Officer was coming into Nursery to visit them. Lyndsey’s professionalism and interaction with the children and staff was amazing from the moment she arrived, and she really engaged with all the children throughout the visit.
Lyndsey also very kindly allowed the children to say good morning to the Guernsey Police headquarters and they even got a response back which the children were very happy about. We can’t thank her enough forgiving up her time to come and visit us. The children interacted really well with her and were confident to ask question sand listen to her answers. The visit fitted in perfectly with our ‘People who helped us’ topic, and we discussed how police officers help us and keep us safe.”
Jacqui Nicolle-Butcher from Preschool Duval said: “The children are always so excited when PC Lyndsey comes to visit. She has a great rapport with them, and they love listening to all the information she gives including the stories and activities she shares. We always have a giggle too when the children respond with their own imaginative safety tales. They absorb all the information and talk happily about it afterwards. It is always fun, informative and a valuable morning for everyone.”
