Karen Leach, Service Manager, Adult Community Services, Guernsey, has been successful in her application to become a Travelling Fellow of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship this month.
The fellowship programme enables successful applicants to travel to learn about care models in other jurisdictions. For her travelling fellowship, Karen will be visiting Alaska and New Zealand.
Speaking about her recent success, Karen said:
‘This exciting opportunity begins with the travel grant from the Trust, but the programme for me doesn’t end there. I will be able to gain insights into care models that can be brought back to Guernsey to influence change. I will become part of a network of other Churchill Fellows who are from all backgrounds and have a vast range of experiences.
HSC has already embarked on an exciting journey of change following the States decision in December to approve its proposals for the future provision of health and care in the Bailiwick – The Partnership of Purpose. I am sure my experiences in Alaska and New Zealand will be an invaluable source of information for this work.”
