Guernsey Electricity appoints new Head of Risk and Compliance

Guernsey Electricity has announced the appointment of Rob Winter as Head of Risk and Compliance.

Working for the company since 2016, Rob takes on this new role as head of department, to reduce risks, drive opportunities and deliver a continuous cycle of improvement across the business.

Rob’s primary responsibility is to ensure that all risks and opportunities affecting the business are identified and managed effectively. He leads a team of highly experienced Health and Safety, environmental and emergency response professionals. He also oversees the company’s audit and compliance systems to ensure they enhance performance and deliver a programme of continual improvement.

A qualified lawyer, Rob has a wealth of experience in risk and compliance. On his new role, he commented: “I moved to Guernsey Electricity in 2016 because I wanted to work for a company which plays a fundamental role to the local community. I am excited to be leading a team of exceptional professionals and optimising our new risk and compliance systems to deliver safe, secure, sustainable and reliable electricity for the island.”

Alan Bates, Chief Executive of Guernsey Electricity said: “We are delighted to promote Rob into this new role.  The business is going through a period of change to prepare for the future in energy generation and demand, which provides a number of risks and opportunities. It is a very interesting time in the energy sector and Rob will play a key part in managing this transition in a proactive and organised manner, ensuring the best possible standards for our island community.
