Sales in Guernsey’s Grow’s vinery during 2024 have exceeded expectations as the team delivered an impressive end to the year.
The team’s dedication and hard work, supported by a group of volunteers, have made the festive period a resounding success.
Volunteers working with the Crew assist the supervisors in supporting them with activities such as seed sowing, potting young plants, and preparing items for sale. Horticultural Manager, Stuart Smale, oversees the arrangement to ensure plants are in optimum condition before being sold. Over the festive season, containers proved popular, while the sale of Christmas trees surpassed expectations. Over 250 were purchased by both regular and new customers keen to support the charity and decorate their homes.
“This Christmas season has been especially meaningful as we celebrate reaching 40 and complete our first full year in our new facilities. .It’s an important time of the year for everyone in the vinery, and throughout Grow, and we are grateful for the incredible support from our volunteers and the Guernsey community,” said General Manager Mandy Mackelworth.
The Grow team, volunteers and Crew always look forward to the build-up to the festive season and being involved with the annual Christmas Fayre. Although Storm Darragh meant this year’s event, which was organised by Friends of Grow (FrOGs), was postponed for a week the training Café, the retail outlet ‘The Crafty Frog’ and vinery festive displays all proved popular.
Whilst the vinery will be open throughout the holiday period, with an honesty box and sum up machines, the café and shop are closed until Tuesday 7th January when opening hours are 10.30am -2.30pm weekly Tuesday – Friday.
