Deloitte Guernsey has recently donated £7,000 to its Five Million Futures charity partner, Grow.
Grow will use the donation to purchase 200 Christmas trees and other seasonal plants which have proven to be very popular with islanders in previous years.
Thanks to the donation, 100% of sales will go straight to the charity, contributing to its annual running costs. Deloitte is also helping the charity promote the Christmas trees sales and reach the widest possible audience.
The trees and plants will be on sale from 3 December at Grow’s annual Christmas Fayre.
Deloitte’s donation has been made via its Charities Aid Foundation and is part of the firm’s continued support of Grow, its 5MF Charity partner since 2019.
Previously, the team at Deloitte has helped to plant beds and provide cyber security awareness workshops. The firm was instrumental in Grow’s cookbook, which launched last year showcasing recipes from local restaurants. The target of £20,000 has nearly been reached for the charity through the sale of the books so far.
Partner at Deloitte, Jo Huxtable, said: “We recognise that this is a difficult time for charities who are all facing rising costs and increased pressures on their services, so we are so pleased to continue our support of Grow in this way.
“The Foundation enables Deloitte employees to engage with social projects in order to support less fortunate segments of our society. The Grow Christmas trees have proven to be very popular in past years, and we hope our donation will help to ensure the charity receives as much funding as possible, even during this difficult time.
“Our assistance extends beyond the financial donation; we will be helping to spread the word amongst the community with professional marketing support.”
Marguerite Talmage, Director at Grow, said: “We are so thankful to Deloitte for this donation, particularly in a time when everyone is feeling the strain from rising costs. Being able to benefit directly from the Christmas tree sales will make a welcome contribution to our running costs.
“We have large on-going operational costs, and we thankful to everyone who has supported us so far and continues to.”
Five Million Futures is part of Deloitte’s Global WorldClass commitment to empower 100 million people by 2030.
