In celebration of Volunteers’ Week, Grow is recognising the dedication and generosity of individuals across the community who give their time to support third sector organisations.
As a gesture of appreciation, and to encourage more people to get involved, Grow is offering anyone who signs up to volunteer the chance to win return flights for two to a European destination.
“We deeply value the impact our volunteers have,” said Mandy Mackelworth, General Manager at Grow. ‘At present, we have around a dozen volunteers contributing their time.
“These range from half-days to full days in our vinery, Flourish Café, Crafty Frog shop, and reception. Their support enables our staff to focus on other essential duties, while volunteers help oversee the day-to-day work alongside our Crew.”
Among these dedicated volunteers is David Chan, former RAF fighter pilot and advisory and investment management executive chair, who gives his time at the vinery two mornings a week. He said: “There does come a point for many of us when we become more settled or more successful, perhaps retired, where we find ourselves in a position to be able to give more of that most precious of all gifts – time.
“Volunteers at Grow, regardless of their background, provide a different perspective from the permanent staff and Crew while acting as ambassadors to business and the wider community. As long as you can take instruction and muck in, there’s nothing stopping you!”
Ms Mackelworth added: “Our Board of Directors generously give their time as volunteers, as do the dedicated team behind Friends of Grow (FrOGs), who play a crucial role organising and supporting the fundraising events which help keep our services running.”
