Guests and staff at Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa are looking forward to continuing to help islanders on the autistic spectrum throughout 2022.
Last year the AA Five Star St Helier Hotel raised over £1,000 for Autism Jersey through guest donations and a variety of fun events.
It’s not all about the fundraising though, the team at Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa were keen to make the most of the hotel’s assets and really make it a treat to visit for all, offering those on the spectrum a relaxing, safe and
inclusive stay. The Hotel has plenty of room for guests to unwind in quiet spaces, decorated in neutral colours with soft lighting to help give both autistic adults and children a sense of ease.
Throughout the year the Hotel hosted Autism Jersey’s monthly coffee mornings, providing tea, coffee and pastries and the charity has made use of the recently refurbished Grand Suite for training and as the venue for their AGM.
Children on the spectrum and their families enjoyed some great movies and popcorn in the in-house cinema and families were also offered complimentary pool days to allow them to take time out together and have some fun in a safe and autism-friendly environment.
Commenting on the partnership, Russ Brown, Interim Hotel Manager said, “We’re delighted to be partnered with Autism Jersey, a charity which works tirelessly to help enhance the quality of life for islanders on the autistic
spectrum, helping them to lead a full and inclusive life and enjoy a degree of independence.”
Lesley Harrison, Head of Charitable Services at Autism Jersey said, “Community partnerships are invaluable; they enable Autism Jersey to provide much-needed services and support for those who most need it and generate awareness of Autism in our community and valuable funding for our services. We are thrilled with the level of support and commitment from the team at Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa and their guests, helping us make a
difference for an inclusive society. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved and look forward to continuing working collaboratively throughout the year ahead.”
Russ Brown went on to say, “We look forward to welcoming the team of Autism Jersey and the families they support to the hotel throughout 2022 and will continue to help support their work however we can.”
