A company that offers direct flights from Jersey to Mediterranean destinations has cancelled the rest of its 2020 programme.
FlyDirect, which is part of the C. I. Travel Group, has made the decision after Spain and the Balearic Islands were moved to red status under Jersey’s traffic light travel system.
Weekly flights were scheduled to Palma, Majorca until the 20 of September, before the programme switched to the Costa del Sol for October. These flights will no longer operate, with full refunds being given to customers. This Sunday’s flights between Jersey and Palma will be the last to operate this year.
‘It is deeply regrettable that we have had to take the decision to cancel the remainder of oursummer programme to the Mediterranean,’ commented Robert Mackenzie, Managing Director of C. I. Travel Group.
‘However, along with the health and well-being of our clients, in the light of the decision made by Jersey’s Government to move Spain to ‘Red’ status, we felt it is was important to provide certainty for those booked to travel in September and October by giving as much notice as possible regarding the cancellation of the remainder of the summer programme.’
Any customers currently on holiday in Majorca will be able to fly home direct to Jersey this weekend, if they wish to do so, but will be required to observe the new quarantine regulations.
Robert Mackenzie added, ‘We would like to thank all of our clients for their forbearance throughwhat has been a very challenging year for our FlyDirect programme. We will now continue to work on our 2021 holiday programme and expect to announce further details regarding this in thecoming weeks.’
