A specialist in cross-border financial disputes and commercial litigation with 14 years’ experience has joined Walkers’ Jersey Insolvency and Dispute Resolution team as a Senior Counsel.
Matthew Dibb joins the firm from Addleshaw Goddard’s top-tier Banking Litigation team – he is recognised by Legal 500 and has experience in-house, having undertaken a six-month secondment with Barclays in Canary Wharf in their bank’s primary dispute avoidance investigation team.
Matthew joins the team led by partner Nigel Sanders – in the last 12 months, Walkers’ Jersey Insolvency & Dispute Resolution team has also seen the arrivals of Associates Claire Barbesol and Charlotte Matthews.
Nigel said: “We are delighted to welcome Matt to the team – his onshore experience covers the broad range of the kind of work that we see here, running from strategic investigations for large financial institutions in the regulatory sphere, to matters relating to breach of trust, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, and professional negligence.
“Our Insolvency and Dispute Resolution Practice Group has been very busy over the last six months and is expecting this level of activity to continue right through 2021, so Matt’s arrival is very well-timed”.
Before his time with Addleshaw Goddard, Matthew worked in the financial disputes team at Eversheds, and trained at a regional firm.
Fraser Hern, the Head of Walkers’ Channel Islands business, said: “Matt’s experience advising major international banking groups and other institutional clients is every bit as relevant to offshore law as it is to onshore, and makes him a particularly good fit for Walkers, with our uniquely global outlook and collaborative approach across jurisdictions.
“We are very pleased to welcome him to the team, as we expect activity levels in the Insolvency & Dispute Resolution area to continue to increase. We look forward to making further announcements about Walkers’ continued growth in the coming weeks”.
