Students, school leavers, undergraduates and career switchers will have the chance to find out more about the increasingly broad range of career options available across Jersey’s finance industry at a festive-themed event this weekend.

‘Careers in Finance…Unwrapped!’, which is free to attend and organised by Jersey Finance, will take place in a festively-decorated marquee in Parade Gardens this Saturday, 8 December, from 11am – 4pm. Geoff Cook, CEO, Jersey Finance will join Simon Crowcroft, Constable of St. Helier, to open the event at 10:45am.

As well as featuring a range of local finance industry firms who will all be available to talk about current opportunities and how roles in the industry are evolving, those attending will also be able to speak to representatives from Digital Jersey, the body that represents Jersey’s digital sector.

Skills Jersey will also be on hand to offer advice on anything from career plans, CVs and interview technique in a dedicated ‘Guru’s Grotto’, whilst community representatives for Volunteer Jersey, St. John Ambulance Fellowship and the Youth Enquiry Services will also be there to tell attendees more about their role in our community.

Geoff Cook, CEO, Jersey Finance, said:

“We recognise that the future success of our industry rests on the skills and talents of our Islanders and we are passionate about the exciting, challenging and rewarding careers available to them right here.

“The world of finance is changing dramatically, and so are the careers available in it locally. We are a dynamic, creative, digitally-driven, globally-focused industry and we hope that this comes across at this event, where we’ll have a range of experts working in all areas of the industry available to offer advice, guidance and insights into the opportunities available.”

According to the latest employment figures for Jersey, the number of people now working in Jersey’s finance industry is almost at its highest ever level (13,280 people) – in fact, over the last five years, more than 1,600 school and university students have found careers in Jersey’s finance industry.
